Our Commitment to Cultural Safety and Humility

Systemic racism is an element of colonial policies, with far-reaching adverse impacts to this day.  YRNA recognizes the ongoing adverse effects, and prevalence of racism within society and our healthcare system.

We are dedicated to refocusing our privilege towards reconciliation, humility, recognition of harms, and reduction of those harms. We strive for a culturally safe and inclusive future for all.

Attempting to get there alone risks perpetuating harms. We will seek wisdom and guidance from those who have been affected so that we can learn and grow. Together, we will develop a safe and welcome space within YRNA.

A wise proverb teaches us: If we want to go quickly, we go alone, if we want to go far, we go together.  We look to go far!
